NYTE - New York Talk Exchange

The New York Talk Exchange, is a visualisation of when the population of NY 'dial out' of the city and call the rest of the world. I like all 3 of the projects here but the third one, 'the world inside new york' contains the most information and shows data that I've not come across before, compared to the other 2. The world inside new york shows the diversity of each section's calling habits. Each square represents a 2 kilometre square block, within that block the different countries dialled are represented by colour coded percentage bars. I really like the shade of black used for the background colour along with the palette used for the map in the top left. I don't like the blurred gradient which points to the chosen square, although it is a good method of pointing to whichever square has been selected. Watch the video here, ogle at a high-res image here.

Bored? Feeling down? Considering growing a mustache? Have a secret giggle at this.
